Cherub is a Display typeface designed to be short, stout, and voluptuous. It is anchored by a thick stroke width and thin rounded counter forms, appearing so heavy in print that its serifs become compressed. All characters were hand drawn before turning digital to embed a natural flowing aesthetic. Cherubim are angelic beings attending directly to god, often depicted as portly children with wings. While their effervescent youthfulness was certainly an influence, this typeface looks too heavy to take flight.
